Guides > Setting up Two Factor Authentication

Setting up Two Factor Authentication

Agents in Halo can use 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) to secure their account for any reason seen fit. This could be for data protection, security whilst out and about using Halo on mobile or a laptop, or if you have staff using Halo in a public facing part of your business.

Enabling for your Own Account

Adding 2FA is easy for your own account:

  1. Click your profile picture in the top right to open your settings pane
  2. Click on "Password & Security"
  3. Click on "Two-Factor Authentication"
  4. Click "Enable", now 2FA is enabled and you cannot login with entering a code sent to you securely.
    • Without an authenticator app you will be asked to authenticate via Mobile or SMS.

Using an Authenticator App

An Authenticator App such as Google or Microsoft Authenticator can be used instead of Email/SMS. These are available to download;

  • Microsoft Authenticator for Windows Phone, Android and iOS
  • Google Authenticator for Android and iOS.

These work by scanning a QR code, or entering a key, and presenting this to you as below in Halo. The app will then generate temporary codes for you on opening  for logging in to Halo.

Enabling/Enforcing 2FA for All Agents and Users

Under the security heading in Configuration>Advanced Settings you will find the list of security settings, here you can allow Two-Factor(2FA) to be used or enforce this on all agents and/or users.
