In 2016, Connor Hain, a university graduate, joined Halo Service Solutions on the graduate programme. Five years later, he is now one of Halo’s key assets, working as the lead integrations developer at the Halo Headquarters in Stowmarket, England.

“When leaving university, I had a fairly good idea of what direction I wanted to take my career, but I was open to trying a variety of roles to see if there were other paths that I may be interested in. The Halo graduate scheme was therefore a perfect match for me, as it offered me the chance to try a variety of roles that I would never have previously considered, allowing me to make an informed decision on the path I’d like to take with my career.

Since joining the graduate training scheme, I have primarily been involved in development, but I have also been given the opportunity to try roles in Support, Support Management, Consultancy, Sales, and even the onboarding of new graduates. The onboarding of new graduates was an incredibly satisfying role, as it gave me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience I have gained whilst being with the company and help to start other graduate’s careers. Most rotations would last 1-2 months, but some rotations would last longer at my request if I was particularly enjoying the role, so there is lots of flexibility with this.

One of my favourite things about the programme was the approach to learning that Halo takes with new graduates. Being from a technical background, I’ve always enjoyed approaching difficult tasks which involve exploring new and unknown concepts. From day one of the programme, you are encouraged to express yourself and try new things that are outside of your comfort zone. I was given the opportunity to get involved with larger projects for the company straight away, which is something I thoroughly enjoyed. After starting the programme 5 years ago, I am now the lead integrations Developer for Halo, a role which I absolutely love and hope to continue expanding in the years to come!”
